Baboon Attacking Lion With Stick Meme Template

This viral photoshop image depicts a baboon stealthily approaching a sleeping lion from behind while wielding a long wooden stick overhead, as if preparing to strike the apex predator.

The image—a photoshopped combination of wildlife photography—gained widespread popularity across Reddit (r/CursedImages, r/memes), X (Twitter), Instagram, and TikTok. Users frequently compare it to Rafiki and Mufasa from The Lion King going horribly wrong, making it a staple template for reckless confidence, starting an unwinnable fight, or taking a massive risk for no logical reason.

Reckless confidence, poking a sleeping giant, unhinged bravado, starting unnecessary drama, and impending disaster.

• The Lion (Foreground): A large adult male lion with a full mane resting peacefully on dry savanna grass, completely unaware of what is behind him.
• The Baboon (Background): A grey baboon standing on its hind legs directly behind the lion, holding a large wooden stick raised high above its head with both hands.
• A sunny, open African savanna landscape with dry yellowish-green grass and low image resolution adding to its cursed energy.

The image displays a low-resolution, photoshopped wildlife image set in an open savanna field. In the bottom left, a large male lion with a thick dark mane lies calmly on the ground with its eyes closed, resting in the grass. Directly behind the lion, a grey baboon stands reared up on its back legs. The baboon holds a thick wooden branch overhead with both paws, posed mid-swing as though preparing to strike the unsuspecting lion from behind.
