Be Like Bill Meme Template

Template Name

Be Like Bill / Be Like Bill Stick Figure / Bill In A Beanie / Be Smart Be Like Bill / Bill Meme Template

Origin

The "Be Like Bill" phenomenon was created in late 2015 by Moldovan internet personality Eugeniu Croitoru, who later launched an official Facebook page dedicated to the character alongside Debabrata Nath.

The format features an elementary stick figure wearing a knitted winter beanie who demonstrates sensible, courteous, and non-toxic etiquette across various social media and everyday scenarios. Typically structured as a brief moral story starting with "This is Bill" and concluding with "Bill is smart. Be like Bill," the meme exploded across Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter/X in late 2015 and early 2016. It spawned global localized spin-offs in multiple languages (such as Sii come Bill in Italian, Sé como José in Spanish, and Rashid in Arabic).

Blank versions—stripping away the left-side text column—became an evergreen template for prescribing ideal internet etiquette, mocking virtue signaling, calling out annoying online habits, or delivering ironic life advice.

Key Vibes

Common sense etiquette, passive-aggressive courtesy, deadpan life advice, internet etiquette enforcement, and didactic stick-figure wisdom.

Visual Breakdown

• The Character (Right Foreground): A minimalist black stick figure with a circle head, dot eyes, a simple curved smile line, and stick limbs positioned on the right side of the canvas.
• The Beanie: A realistic, textured grey/tan knit pom-pom beanie perched on top of Bill's stick-drawn head, featuring a small maroon bobble.
• The Canvas (Left): A large, completely blank white open field framed within a black border, designed to hold three to four short lines of explanatory text.
• Artistic Style: A blend of simple MS Paint-style stick illustration combined with a photographic clip-art winter hat.

Description Paragraph

The template draws its humor and viral staying power from its direct, pedagogical approach to basic human decency. In an online world filled with oversharing, political ranting, spoiled gym selfies, and relentless drama, Bill represents the ideal, drama-free bystander. He encounters the exact same temptations as everyone else, yet chooses silence, patience, and politeness. By isolating Bill on the right side with an empty white canvas on the left, creators can easily write bespoke etiquette parables that gently—or sarcastically—roast friends, colleagues, or strangers for obnoxious habits.
