Jason Momoa Sneaking Up on Henry Cavill Meme Template

Template Name

Jason Momoa Sneaking Up on Henry Cavill / Jason Momoa Creeping Up / Aquaman Sneaking on Superman / Momoa Glomping Cavill / Red Carpet Sneak Attack Meme

Origin

This candid celebrity photograph was captured on August 3, 2016, at the European premiere of DC's Suicide Squad in Leicester Square, London.

While British actor Henry Cavill (who played Superman in the DC Extended Universe) was posing formally for red carpet photographers in a sharply tailored suit, his DC co-star Jason Momoa (who portrayed Aquaman) spotted him from behind. Without Cavill noticing, Momoa adopted an exaggerated, wide-legged stalker crouch with clawed hands and a gleeful grin, stealthily creeping up before wrapping Cavill in a massive bear hug.

Photographs of the approach circulated across Twitter/X, Tumblr, and Reddit shortly after the premiere. By 2018, the image became an iconic object-labeling template used to illustrate impending, chaotic surprises that sneak up on a person while they are calmly going about their life.

Key Vibes

Impending chaotic doom, blindsided ambush, stealthy surprise, playful sabotage, and oblivious confidence before disaster.

Visual Breakdown

• Henry Cavill (Foreground Right): Dressed in a dark double-breasted suit, crisp white dress shirt, and gold-patterned tie, standing tall with one hand in his pocket and looking calmly toward the press cameras with polite composure.
• Jason Momoa (Background Left): Dressed casually in a black scoop-neck t-shirt, dark jeans, and boots, hunched low in an aggressive predatory stalk with arms spread and a mischievous, wide grin directed at Cavill's back.
• The Setting: A vibrant bright pink premiere carpet surrounded by barriers, premiere attendees, press photographers, and large digital advertising screens in Leicester Square.
• Visual Dynamic: A stark contrast between rigid, composed professionalism in the front and feral, playful chaos stalking right behind it.

Description Paragraph

The template draws its humor from the dramatic dramatic irony between the two subjects: Cavill represents someone entirely focused, organized, and at peace, while Momoa embodies an approaching avalanche of chaos that the target cannot see coming. Online creators use this format to depict life's inevitable surprises—such as sudden unexpected expenses, Monday mornings, past regrets, or random bursts of existential dread—creeping up on someone right when they finally feel like they have everything under control.
