Plush Octopus Watching News Meme Template

This viral image features a large mustard-yellow plush octopus sitting on a couch, staring with wide, unblinking cartoon eyes directly toward the camera (or television).

In the background, a television set displays a live news broadcast featuring a serious political interview (French CNews broadcast featuring Philippe de Villiers). The juxtaposition of a goofy, blank-staring stuffed octopus sitting attentively in front of heavy geopolitical news made it an instant favorite across X (Twitter), Reddit (r/plushies, r/memes), Instagram, and TikTok as a prime template for fake seriousness, watching the world burn, or tuning in to news you don't remotely understand.

Blank-stare seriousness, watching the world burn, absurdity, clueless observation, and existential news overload.
