Gentleman frog Meme Template

Template Name

It Is With Great Pleasure to Inform You / Distinguished Gentleman Toad / Gentleman Frog / Formal Toad Announcement / Sophisticated Frog Meme

Origin

This illustration is an original painting titled "Gentleman Toad" created by Russian artist and illustrator Stepan Kashirin (Степан Каширин), known for his prolific series of anthropomorphic frog and toad oil paintings depicting Victorian- and 19th-century-era society.

The artwork first circulated online through art forums, Pinterest, and Tumblr before entering mainstream meme culture around 2020–2021 on Reddit (particularly r/memes and r/dankmemes) and Twitter/X. Creators paired the dapper amphibian with an overly formal, courtly opening catchphrase: "It is with great pleasure to inform you that..."

The format quickly became the internet's premier visual vehicle for announcing personal milestones, minor victories, weekend arrivals, or humorous everyday trivia with mock-aristocratic dignity.

Key Vibes

Aristocratic pride, polite formality, distinguished announcements, mock nobility, and dignified celebration.

Visual Breakdown

• The Subject (Center): A large, stocky anthropomorphic toad seated composedly in an armchair with webbed hands resting neatly on its knees.
• The Attire: Dressed in elegant 19th-century gentleman's formalwear—a tailored black frock coat, an ochre-striped silk waistcoat, a crisp high-collared white shirt with an ascot/cravat, and formal dark trousers with a visible pocket watch fob.
• The Expression: A heavy-lidded, serene, and satisfied gaze beneath a broad toad brow, conveying absolute calm and aristocratic confidence.
• Art Style & Palette: Classic fine art oil painting texture with muted earth tones, olive greens, rich blacks, and a painterly neutral beige studio backdrop.

Description Paragraph

The humor comes from the extreme disconnect between high-society Victorian portraiture and the often mundane or absurd announcements internet users celebrate. By presenting news through the persona of a portly, well-tailored amphibian lord, creators elevate everyday occurrences into royal declarations. Whether someone finally passed an exam after three tries, made it through another grueling work week to reach Friday, or successfully fixed a minor computer bug, the Gentleman Toad allows them to share the news not with desperate relief, but with refined, unflappable elegance.
